The name that Stanley™ has applied to its recently released Digital Portable Power Station is a misnomer. The device is based on a rechargeable battery jump starter, but offers a number of additional features. It will help during roadside emergencies, recharge DC powered portable electric devices and has an inverter to provide a small scale AC source.
Baccus Global, the company manufacturing the station, provided a sample of their product for this hands on evaluation. This product review of the Stanley Digital Portable Power Station divides its assessments and descriptions made into three functional areas. The items of interest are the battery jump starter, air compressor, and power supply functions.
Rechargeable Battery Jump Starter
The rechargeable 350-ampere hour battery used by the power station to jump start dead car or boat batteries is the basis for all the other roles this product fulfills. The power station needs to be initially charged overnight prior to its first use. Stanley uses a small, wall wart style transformer to charge the storage battery contained in the device. The power station can also be recharged using a vehicle’s 12-volt DC cigarette lighter port.
